But we were looking for one monument in particular – the cemetery's most photographed marker. Unable to find it (a 200-year-old cemetery has a lot of headstones), we came upon a rumpled old gentleman busily tidying up some of the grave sites. We asked if he was familiar with the cemetery. “Yep,” he said. “Wrote a book about it.” Turns out he was the cemetery's former superintendent (we would later find his book in nearly every tourist information store). And yes, he knew exactly where the monument was.
