1000places > ASWAN - In the highly competitive Egyptian markets, shop vendors are always looking for an edge - something that will entice the customer to stop and look.  Having run the gauntlet of aggressive vendors, the advertising at this shop was especially effective.
1000places > ASWAN - Every market stall and every vendor is a potential photograph.  But the grizzled face of this particular vendor stood out from the rest.
1000places > ASWAN - To get the full market experience, our trip leader sent us out one afternoon to the local market in downtown Aswan.  Our assignment was to procure the makings for dinner that evening.  It wasn't hard - the vendors knew the drill better than we did (apparently every tourist group has the same assignment).  In no time, our supper was assured.

Egyptian vendors have centuries of bargaining experience on their side, but if you are persistent enough -- and treat the bargaining process as an enjoyable game -- you can walk away satisfied with your purchase.
1000places > ASWAN - Aggressive Egyptian vendors often take an "in-your-face" approach to selling their products.  Jeanne decided that the best response to this vendor was "Love your dish towels, but I have no kitchen!"
1000places > ASWAN - Aswan is known for its spices, so in the late afternoon, we explored the city’s soug (market) with its  kaleidoscope of colorful spices.
