IT'S HARD TO IGNORE ITALY - During our recent explorations of Greece, Egypt, and Jordan, we often encountered the cultural remnants of the ancient Roman empire. Similarly today we see Italy reflected in fashion, automobiles, food and wine, etc. So it seemed natural that Italy should be near the top of our "1000 Places" list. This was our introductory tour of the land of olive oil, pasta, wine, ruins, and renaissance palaces.
