Our travel to the Land of the Pharaohs
MENA HOUSE, CAIRO - Originally a royal lodge for the Turkish ruler of Egypt in the 1860s, the hotel is set within 40 acres of gardens, literally across the street from the Giza plateau and the majestic Pyramids. It was here in 1943 that Roosevelt and Churchill planned Operation Overlord, the World War II invasion of Europe. In these gardens in 1979, peace negotiations between Egypt and Israel were signed.
