1000places > CUZCO, PERU - All of us joined in many of the Peruvian traditions, but only a few tried the one delicacy that often graces the plates of Peruvians on special occasions - the roasted guinea pig.
1000places > CUZCO, PERU - Even though the steady influx of tourists and other visitors into Cuzco is turning the city into a "mixing bowl" of cultures, the traditional Peruvian dress is still very recognizable along the city streets.
1000places > CUZCO, PERU - The traditional native dances are also kept alive in small theaters and in this case, at a local restaurant off the Plaza de Armas.
1000places > CUZCO, PERU - On our final evening in Cuzco, we walked back to the Plaza de Armas, the Catedral and fountain now brightly lit.
1000places > CUZCO, PERU - Even though they committed many atrocities against the Incas in this square, you have to admit that the Spanish could build extraordinary churches. The La Compania de Jesus at night.
1000places > CUZCO, PERU - Our last group dinner was held in a restaurant just off the square of the Plaza de Armas.  From our table we could observe this wall.  We learned that it was not only an original Inca wall but that it had once been a wall in the palace of the great Pachacuti himself, the man who built the Inca empire.
1000places > CUZCO, PERU - Pachacuti's wall seemed the perfect backdrop to take a final group photo.
